By Nemanja Miltenovic ’13, FLEX Serbia Alumni Coordinator

In the FLEX world, September 27th is commonly known as the Appreciation Day. The celebration is meant to show the impact of the program on alumni, and those around them: friends, family, and the community. If you look up the official hashtag: #ThankYouFLEX, you can see that stories from alumni have reached over 100.000 people.

In Belgrade, Serbia, 30 alumni came together at the American Councils office to celebrate the event. There were representatives from 10/11 generations, from the very first ’07 to the most recent ’17. Besides FLEX alumni from Serbia, there was also a FLEX representative from Montenegro.

While enjoying various delicious American cookies made at a local bakery, alumni got a chance to socialize, share their experiences with other alumni, and also write and display why they were thankful for the program.

Besides the celebration of the FLEX Appreciation Day, the event also served as a launch of the FLEX Serbia Fundraising campaign, where alumni are raising funds for two additional scholarships for Serbia, together with FLEX Serbia alumnus Branko Backovic ’07. In order to make the fundraiser interactive, a raffle has been launched with various prizes: 0.5 kg of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, professional photo shoot done by our alumna Violeta Milanovic ’15, visits to the US Embassy in Belgrade, and many more! If you would like to donate funds in order to participate in the raffle, please contact us at alumnisr@americancouncilssee.org, or donate online via this link (make sure you select the FLEX Serbia campaign in the cause drop-down menu, and your name in the optional field in order to enter the raffle; all information will remain confidential, and will not be shared in public). One USD or 100 Serbian Dinars is an equivalent of one raffle ticket.
