The 2012 Thanksgiving event was held on Saturday, November 25 at the American Corner in Sofia. Nine children that ranged in age from 4 to12 attended the two-hour event. Some of the children’s mothers attended and participated in the event, too.
The event began with a short PowerPoint presentation given by alumna Borislava Keneva ’10, which talked about the origin of the American holiday and its traditions. After the presentation, the children participated in an activity of their choice. These activities were related to the holiday and included making and decorating cards, making paper hand turkeys, decorating a Tree of Thanks, making Native American-style leather bags, or making paper tipis.
The children had lots of fun participating in these activities. Each of them had the chance to choose one or more of the activities they would like to do. The two alumnae who were present at the event, Borislava and Gabriella Veleva ’11, walked around the tables, helped the kids with their crafts, and made sure they understood the American holiday of Thanksgiving.
